Lion's Club Crab Feed
We need several more volunteers for the Lions Club Crab Feed on Saturday 1/21. Currently, we have 14 people signed up for dinner and 4 for lunch. Typically we commit to at least 20 volunteers at dinner and 6 for lunch. Our attendance at the Scout meetings was predictably low in December so several families have not had an opportunity to sign up for or learn about the details of the event. If you have already committed to assisting and signed up, we thank you. All other families and Eagle Scouts are asked to contact Dan Demars to confirm whether you can volunteer, if so, please indicate whether you can help at lunch or dinner.

The event details include helping with table service during the annual crab feed on Saturday 1/21 at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium as well as kitchen and garbage detail. Service support does not include any event set up but simply table service (serving food) during the event and basic clean up of tables after the lunch or dinner. Lunch service begins at 11:00 am and ends around 2:00 pm. Dinner service and support begins at 5:00 pm and ends around 8:30 pm. The Lions Club invite all volunteers to come at 4:30 pm for a free crab dinner.

The reason the Troop focuses so much of our volunteer service on this particular event is because it is the largest fund raiser of the year for our charter sponsor, the 7-11 Lions Club of Petaluma. The Lions have come through in a big way over the past two years with financial assistance for our troop; doubling their annual commitment toward camperships, recharter fees, facility rental assistance, and equipment replacement for our unit. The other factor that helps with soliciting volunteers for this event is that it is FUN. Most families look forward to this fund raiser every year because it is fast-paced and the food is delicious.

Please note that we seek volunteers from our parents, adult leaders, and Eagle Scouts and NOT our boys under 18 years of age because alcohol is consumed at this event.
